Reward all weapon types equally in the "weapon" category. Be that Kraken taking someone to the screws in a fireball, a dramatic shower of sparks from a saw, a mighty hit from a spinner, or a suplex from a grab and lift. My proposal - replace "Damage" with something that rewards ALL spectacle. They don't deal damage and score exactly ziph on that category under the current rules, which I think is an absolute travesty and injustice to both the builders and the audience. Blacksmith - Battlebot's old flaming hammer, or Gruff - BattleBot's twin flamers. Plus, there are non damaging weapons that put on a GREAT show. There's no need to double reward spinners. By reducing the functionality of your opponent you make it easier for yourself to score Aggression and Control. Similar to the previous season, the 2019 season of BattleBots aired Fridays on Discovery, with an 'encore episode' the following Wednesday on the Science Channel, often featuring a bonus fight. IMO it should be replaced with "Style" or "Spectacle" - and hear me out here.Ī damaging weapon ALREADY holds an advantage over a control bot. Discovery Season 4 was the fourth season of BattleBots since its return to television in 2015, and the second season since the Discovery network picked the show up from ABC. Still stand by damage is a terrible criteria for point scoring. But the new Matrix puts us well on the road to more consistency and objectivity. Will there still be controversial decision, of course. Discovery Channel has renewed the robot fighting competition, with the new season set to premiere at 8 p.m. We don't want to spoil anything, but the Matrix system worked extremely well this season. To learn more (and to see the breakdown for Aggression and Control) check out our revised Judge's Guide here: bit.ly/3GADruq Similar amounts of damage = 3-2 with the majority of points going to the bot that either did slightly more damage or sustained less cosmetic damage. Massive = Eliminates the functionality of at least two systems of the Bot. Significant = Eliminates the functionality of the drive, defensibility, or weapon system, or reduces the effectiveness of two or more systems of the Bot. Moderate = Reduces the effectiveness of the drive, defensibility, or weapon system of the Bot.

Minimal Damage = Doesn’t reduce the functionality or effectiveness of the Bot. The scoring system remains the same as past seasons, but now the judges have a more objective system to assign points. The idea comes from the Brazilian robot fighting circuit, and adapted for BattleBots with the help of some veteran bot builders. Specifically, we have a new Judges Matrix. HAPPY NEW YEAR BOTFANS! And with the new year come some new rules for BattleBots Season Six.
